About the department

The Department of Livestock Tissue Metabolism (460n) deals with the physiology and molecular metabolism of farm animals.

We investigate adaptation mechanisms to physiological and pathophysiological challenges with a focus on the gastrointestinal tract, which, as a central site for efficient nutrient absorption and interaction with the external environment, is often crucial for the health, well-being and performance of livestock.
